01
Accepting these terms
Creating an account, or using Citadel Fitness in any way, means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
“We” and “us” mean Citadel Fitness, the publisher of the app. “The app” means Citadel Fitness on Android, iOS or the web, and this website.
02
Age requirement
You must be 18 or over to create an account. This is not boilerplate, and the reasons are specific: the activity leaderboard shows your display name and photo to every signed-in user, form check accepts video of you training, and nutrition coaching asks for your body weight and height.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.
03
Your account
You need an account to use the app, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your password to yourself, use an email address you can actually receive mail at, and tell us if you think someone else has got in.
One account per person. Sharing an account defeats every number the app produces, since streaks, volume and records are all personal by definition.
04
Acceptable use
Use the app for training. Beyond that, please do not:
- Upload anything you do not have the right to upload, or anything showing another person who has not agreed to it. Form check is for video of you.
- Upload material that is unlawful, abusive, or sexual.
- Harass anyone through a group, a shared challenge, or a message to us.
- Try to reach data that is not yours, probe the service for weaknesses, or work around the limits on any feature.
- Automate account creation, or falsify logged activity to place on the leaderboard.
- Resell access, or use the app to build a competing service.
If you find a security problem, tell us rather than using it. We would much rather hear from you.
05
Your content
Your training data is yours. Every workout, set, goal, note, photo and video you put into the app belongs to you, and nothing here changes that.
To run the service we need permission to store and process it: to show your history back to you, to calculate your streaks and charts, to show a coach the video you submitted for review, and to back it up. That permission exists only for operating the app, ends when you delete the content or your account, and does not extend to anything else. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything.
Some of what you enter is deliberately visible to others. Your display name, photo and days trained appear on the activity leaderboard to every signed-in user, and the same within any group you join. What you lifted is never shown. If you would rather not appear, do not set a display name or photo.
You can take a copy of your data out of the app, and you can delete it. Both are described in the privacy policy, and deletion has its own page.
06
Not medical advice
Read this one properly
Citadel Fitness is a training log and a set of suggestions built from it. It is not medical advice, and nobody involved in it is your doctor. Exercise carries risk of injury, and lifting the number an app suggests is your decision and your responsibility.
Speak to a doctor before starting or changing a training programme, particularly if you have an injury, a heart condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from illness. Stop if something hurts.
Where the app suggests a load, that suggestion is a readable heuristic and nothing more: double progression, with a brake when your reported effort is high and a deload when you stall. It reads what you logged. It does not know how you slept, what else you did today, or what your body is doing. Every suggestion is one you should be willing to argue with.
07
Coaching features
Some paid features involve a person reading what you sent and replying: form check, where someone watches a video of a lift and comments on it, and nutrition coaching, where someone reads what you have described and writes back.
These are opinions offered in good faith by someone experienced in training. They are not a diagnosis, a prescription, a meal plan issued by a dietitian, or physiotherapy. Section 06 applies to them in full.
Both have limits that exist because a person does the work, and those limits are enforced by the app rather than being a target: form check is capped monthly, and nutrition coaching allows one open intake at a time. We aim to reply within a reasonable period and do not guarantee a turnaround time.
08
Paid plans
Nothing is on sale yet. The app is free to use today, and every paid feature is either unavailable or clearly marked. This section describes how paid plans will work when they open, so it is written down before anyone is charged rather than afterwards.
How you will be billed
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play or the Apple App Store, not by us directly. The store takes the payment, holds your payment details, and issues the receipt. We never see your card.
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you bought it, until you cancel. That is how the stores work and it will be stated on the purchase screen too.
Cancelling
Cancel through the store, not through us. Google Play and the App Store each own their subscription settings, and we cannot cancel on your behalf. The app links you to the right place.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for: your paid features stay until that period runs out, and then stop. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel first, or you may keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by whichever store took the payment, under that store's policy. We cannot issue one for a purchase we did not process. If a store refunds you, the paid features end.
Prices and what you get
Prices are shown in the app in your own currency before you buy. We may change prices for future periods, and if we do, the change applies from your next renewal and never retroactively.
Paid features may be added, changed or withdrawn. If we withdraw something substantial that you are paying for, we will tell you and you can cancel.
09
Changes to the app
The app is under active development. Features will change, some will be removed, and the app may be unavailable at times, whether for maintenance or because something has broken. We do not promise uninterrupted service.
If we ever discontinue the app entirely, we will give reasonable notice and you will be able to export your data before it closes.
10
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time, from Account → Account management → Delete account, or by asking us if you have already uninstalled. It is immediate and permanent, and the deletion page lists exactly what goes.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 04, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. Serious cases — anything unlawful, or anything endangering another person — may be closed immediately.
11
Liability
The app is provided as it is. We work hard on it and we do not promise it is free of faults, that its figures are always right, or that it will suit any particular purpose of yours.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury arising from training, for lost or corrupted data, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, while the app is free, is nothing.
None of this limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be waived, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
12
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top always shows when they last changed.
For a change that materially affects you — and turning on paid plans is one — we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not, delete your account.
13
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use the app from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your own local law.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
